From time to time, we’ll update the our existing themes for bugs and other enhancements. You can always apply the theme again once you’ve purchased the theme, but it’ll set your Theme Settings to default, which may be annoying.
Here’s a brief guide to updating your theme without overriding your Theme Settings. I put “almost” in the title because this won’t unfortunately preserve the custom images you uploaded through Theme Settings, such as logo and slide images. If you’d like to update certain files so it won’t affect your images, here’s how, but for now, this should be the simplest way for most people.
1. Export your existing theme.
Click on “Export theme” link under your main theme you’re using. This will send a .zip file of your theme to your email. Download this file.
*It’s also a good idea to do this often as a backup. You can always roll back to your current settings if you don’t like the new update.

2.Go to the Theme Store to find your theme.
Click on “Get Theme” button and chooose “Install and publish as my shop’s main theme”.
If you’d like to also download as .zip to to keep it in your computer, you can do that as well.

3. Unzip the zip file you’ve download from #1.
Navigate to “config” folder and open “settings_data.json” file with your text editor. Textedit for Mac, Notepad for PC will do.

Select all and copy the content.

4. Go to your Theme Editor for your main theme. Go down to find the same file under “config”.

Replace the content with what you’ve copied to your clipboard. (Select All and Paste). Hit “Save” button and that’s it!
